Dale Hollow Lake:
Dale Hollow Lake covers almost 28,000 acres of pristine water surrounded by stunning Tennessee mountains. This is one of the most breathtaking, fully recreational, clean lakes in the country. You can ski, boat, swim, fish, eat, or just relax.
Dale Hollow Lake is known for its crystal-clear water and pristine, natural beauty. In recent years it's remote aesthetic lure has consistently made it one of the TOP TEN most visited Corps of Engineers lakes. The temperate climate and relatively long recreation season allows visitors to have many opportunities to fish, hunt, camp, picnic, boat, canoe, hike, scuba dive, ride horseback, and enjoy the great outdoors. Dale Hollow Lake has earned the nickname of “Smallmouth Bass Capital of the World". The World Record Smallmouth Bass was taken at Dale Hollow Lake and numerous fishing tournaments are held on the lake throughout the year. Dale Hollow Lake has 620 miles of shoreline and is located in 6 counties and 2 states. The lake covers a total of 52,000acres, with 27,000 acres of water, and 25,000 acres of adjoining acres of boundary land. Visitors desiring modern camping facilities will enjoy four top-of-the-line Corps of Engineers campgrounds providing premier water-front campsites equipped with water and electric hookup. The facilities also provide numerous, well maintained day-use areas and over clean picnic, beach, and launching facilities for all users. Two hiking trails snake through the landscape and along the pristine shoreline. Fourteen commercial marinas provide a variety of services, such as small vessel and houseboat rental, restaurants, moorage, and lodging. One of these marinas, Mitchell Creek Marina, is conveniently located near The Pointe. Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park also offers marina facilities, as well as a campground, visitor center, horse and hiking trails, and a newly-constructed lodge. DALE HOLLOW LAKE Special events are hosted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Dale Hollow Lake throughout the year including a January tour by barge to view Dale Hollow Lake's impressive number of wintering eagles. Lakeshore Cleanups are held twice a year and a Poster Coloring Contest for school children is held to promote a sense of responsibility in keeping our environment litter free. Other popular events include the Eco-Dive, an underwater litter cleanup for diving enthusiasts and the Fall Trail Ride on the lake's 18-mile horse and hiking trail
One of our favorite marinas to enjoy the sun and fun is Mitchell Creek Marina!
Mitchell Creek Waterfall:
After a long, hot summer day on the lake head for the back of the cove. Anchor or tie up your boat. When you step into the water, you’ll find it’s surprisingly cool. Follow the creek until you reach Mitchell Creek Waterfall, a spring-fed waterfall that runs year round. This peaceful waterfall offers the perfect setting for a picnic with friends or family or some quiet time alone. It’s a favorite destination of hikers and adventurers. Plus, the waterfall is a dramatic backdrop for a memorable photo
DESTINATION FISHING:
Dale Hollow Lake is known for its smallmouth bass fishing and water purity. Surrounded by steep hills and lusciously green hardwood forest it should be on every smallmouth anglers bucket list. In July of 1955, David Lee Hayes hooked a world-record smallmouth bass from Dale Hollow. His record still stands today, but it was not a one-time catch. According to Bassmaster, 6 of the top 10 recorded smallmouth catches belong to Dale Hollow Lake. The lake continues to be a hotspot for fishermen from around the world, so what makes Dale Hollow different? The purity of the water. It is one of the most pristine highland reservoirs in the nation.
Cummins Falls State Park
A 282-acre day-use park located nine miles north of Cookeville on the Blackburn Fork State Scenic River near the Eastern Highland Rim. Located in the rugged Cordell Hull Watershed, the area has been a scenic spot and swimming hole for residents for more than one hundred years. Cummins Falls is Tennessee’s eighth largest waterfall in volume of water and is 75 feet high.
